Why we built Sesslynx
It started with juggling our own kids' classes. Coaches and parents already trust each other; what they do not have is a shared record. Here is why we built one.
It started with our own kids
Sesslynx did not start as a business idea. It started with our own kids' classes. Different coaches, different days, different ways of paying, and all of it living in our heads. Which sessions had we already paid for, and which were still owed? Which weeks did the kids actually go, and which did they miss? Did that cancellation count? We were trying to remember a month of sessions, for more than one kid, and we kept getting it wrong.
Then we started noticing the coaches. Many of them were in exactly the same position, keeping track of a dozen families from memory or a notes app, and they could not remember either. When the numbers did not match, the conversation about an unpaid amount got uncomfortable, and sometimes ugly, between a coach and a family who otherwise liked and trusted each other. We had seen it from the parent's side and watched it happen to coaches. We wanted it to stop.
Everyone pays a little differently
Independent kids' coaches are paid per session. A tennis coach, a piano teacher, a swim instructor, a math tutor. Each kid pays a little differently: some per session, some on a 10-pack, some a monthly flat fee, a few with a sibling discount.
And almost nobody keeps a shared record. The coach remembers who came. The parent remembers who went. At the end of the month, they compare notes, and the notes do not always match.
The problem is not trust. It is memory.
Most coaches and parents get along well. The trouble starts when two people try to remember the same month separately. Was that a late cancel or notice given in time? Did the Zelle on the 3rd cover the package or the last two sessions? It is a small gap, and it is where awkward money conversations, missed payments, and disputes come from.
One record, two sides
Sesslynx keeps one record that both sides can see. Either the coach or the parent marks a session, in under five seconds. The other side gets an in-app notice and an email and can confirm or dispute. If nobody responds within 48 hours, it auto-confirms.
Every mark updates a live balance for that kid in that class, split into confirmed and pending. Payments by Zelle, Venmo, cash, or check are recorded against it. At the end of the month, both sides get the same statement.
Quiet by design
A tool like this only works if people use it, and people stop using tools that nag. Sesslynx sends a short series of reminders after each session until it is marked, batches them to one push per day, holds them during quiet hours from 9pm to 8am, and stops for both sides as soon as anyone marks.
What comes next
Coaches can start free with up to 5 kids, and parents linked to a coach on Sesslynx are free. Each class also gets its own chat, and co-parents can share one family. If you coach kids, or pay someone who does, we would like to hear from you.
